Case Study 1
The challenge here was to work with the restrictions of a traditional townhouse kitchen - a narrow and dark room at the back of the house - to create an attractive light filled living area.
Practical considerations are never more important than in a smaller kitchen so the layout was planned to create ‘zones’ of activity, from the wet area incorporating the sink and dishwasher, to the food preparation area, with work surface, hob and oven, and pan drawers.
New french doors, sash windows and roof lights from the Andersen windows range were carefully designed and positioned to make the whole room warmer and lighter and, as the kitchen was too narrow to include an island, a return was built to create a natural division between the work and living space.
The limestone floor provides an attractive contrast to the distressed paint finish and the granite worktops.
